The UK Buyer is the Invergordon Museum!

Dear Friends,

You will remember that the Highland Council announced that it has accepted to defer its sale of the Bouchardon bust to allow a UK buyer to match the oveaseas offer.

That UK buyer is the Invergordon Naval Museum and Heritage Centre itself! This is a brave brigade of local museum volunteers, and they have taken on the project to raise over £3,000,000 in the next five months. Part of their strategy is a fundraising campaign, and they have just set up their crowdfunder:

This is an extraordinary situation. The Highland Council demands that Invergordon - to whom it is politically accountable - raise over £3 million to buy back a sculpture that the town originally bought in 1930 for £5. The town has less than 4000 inhabitants and has to fight for its history.

Do you find this remarkable too? Please feel free to comment.

If you are in a position to donate to the museum website and/or share the crowdfunder - and this petition - please do, and thank you in advance. They need our support and encouragement more than ever!
