Stop the XL bully dog 'ban' in Scotland

Stop the XL bully dog 'ban' in Scotland
The Issue
The Scottish Government confirmed on the 18th of January 2024 that they will replicate the UK Government's XL bully breed in Scotland in line with the legislation which has already been implemented in England and Wales.
Now that the ban is in place XL bully breed type dogs will be required to be microchipped and neutered, be on a lead and muzzled whilst in public and in private vehicles. It will be illegal to breed, sell, advertise, gift, exchange or abandon an XL bully breed dog. Owners can apply for an exemption certificate, the fee for the certificate in England and Wales is £92.40. Should the dogs owners wish to have their XL put down they will can be compensated £200 until the 31st of July 2024.
Scottish SPCA have shared information on their website with their Chief Superintendent Mike Flynn saying, 'Today is a sad day. We are very disappointed that the Scottish Government has chosen to implement these 'safeguards' is Scotland.'
Many animal charities have spoken out opposing the bully breed ban including RSPCA, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, The Dogs Trust and The Kennel Club.
The number of incident with out of control dogs has risen over the years despite the fact there are already several dogs on the UK banned breed list. Adding another 'dangerous' breed will not stop this number rising.
All dogs are capable of biting and causing injury which ultimately lies with the owner. Legislation needs to be brought in regarding back yard breeders, puppy mills and irresponsible owners who have not taken appropriate steps to trained their dogs.
We all want our people and communities to be safe therefore wouldn't it be more responsible for all dogs to be chipped and registered/licensed and not blame one breed of which they have no choice.
By signing this petition we can show that Scottish Government that they do not need to blindly copy the UK Governments outdated and vague restrictions but instead listen to experts and set out a better workable solution for these dogs.
