I go to Wyoming Valley West High School. 

There is an upcoming issue that needs to be addressed, and if you feel as though it’s “not that bad,” I really don’t care. This shit has to stop before everything gets out of hand.

 

A couple days ago, each grade had an assembly discussing the upcoming changes to the school and a review of the rules. I see no issue with most of the rules, but one change is the “Yondr” pouches being introduced. 

 

I think it’s a complete waste of time and money to give the students pouches when they know they will be damaged and unusable for future students, and then they will then talk about “You’ll have to pay if you break it.” Well, maybe if you never brought it up or given them to anyone, they wouldn’t have been broken.

 

Secondly, there’s something that money can be used for that will honestly help EVERYONE. 

Renovation of stairs, pipes, and I don’t even know.. but I can say without a doubt that I’ve almost fallen on the stairs many different times because the fucking shit on them lifts up with my feet..how is that a safe environment for students and teachers?

 

Next, classrooms.. I’ve been in too many classrooms where the ceiling should..idk be there? There’s dust and stuff leaks on you when there are heavy rains or even snow.

The last topic I would like to mention is threats. 

 

There were many threats last year that had students mostly on high alert. While some other districts had the protective instinct to send students home, others were left to wonder if they’d really die, but thankfully they were all flukes. 

 

But what if we really did have some sort of real emergency? Parents are left to call the school a million times to check on their individual child when they can’t because their phone is locked in a fuckin pouch. It would cause more chaos and stress during those situations.

 

Teachers and school officials only see the bad in every situation when it comes to cellphones, but hey, people will find ways out. Keep a close eye on those children🤫

 

DRESS CODE

I bet many of you went school shopping this year and got comfortable and nice clothes to wear every day.

I know you got a hoodie or jacket to be able to wear comfortably throughout the school day.

Well, now they also banned the wearing of jackets and hoodies, and I really don’t see why. If there’s a repeat offender wearing their hood, why not penalize them personally instead of the whole school? 

It's honestly so dumb to ban hoodies and jackets and then expect parents to go out and buy more clothes specifically for their children to wear to school, like sweatshirts or jackets without hoods. 

As a person who wears hoodies, they have more layer and thickness to them that most things without hoods don’t even have. And what if I get hot later and I’m wearing 3 different layers because of this stupid rule that I can’t wear the single layer that keeps me warm all day? Stupid right? 

Why didn’t they put a notice in the change of the dress code or rules BEFORE school started? This school district is just slow and needs to start notifying people before instead of after.

 

BACKPACKS

Alright, so this shit is the main thing I really think is so mind-numbing. Why can’t I have my backpack in my last period??? My locker is on the 4th floor, while my last period is on the 2nd floor. I’m not going all the way up and all the way down...

 

Personally, I think they should switch the locker allowance times to before classes, before and after YOUR LUNCH PERIOD, and lastly, after the last lunch period if you want. I feel like it’s so unnecessary to walk up all the way to the 4th floor and then all the way back down just to leave. You guys inconvenience us already; why do it more?

 

This school district never thinks for the students but only for themselves and what they think would be better when it’s really all a big inconvenience.
