The Issue

Time is running out! The UK Government is phasing out the sale of new petrol and diesel cars and vans by 2030,  meaning No new petrol or diesel cars will be sold after 2030. With all new vehicles required to be 100% zero emission by 2035! This is a drastic and damaging policy that threatens consumer choice, affordability, jobs, and everyday freedoms.

For millions of people across the United Kingdom, petrol and diesel vehicles are not a luxury, they are a necessity. Families rely on them for school runs and daily life. Workers depend on them to travel to and from their jobs. Farmers, tradesmen, delivery drivers, carers, and small businesses all depend on reliable vehicles to keep Britain moving.

This policy risks creating serious hardship for ordinary people already struggling with the rising cost of living. Not everyone can afford an expensive electric vehicle, nor does everyone have the ability to charge one conveniently. Millions of people living in flats, terraced housing, or homes without driveways are being overlooked entirely. Rural communities face even greater challenges due to long travel distances and limited charging infrastructure.

Petrol and diesel vehicles remain affordable, practical, proven, and supported by an established nationwide infrastructure. The convenience, reliability, and flexibility they provide cannot simply be replaced overnight.

The Government’s approach also threatens jobs and local economies. Mechanics, small garages, fuel suppliers, transport businesses, and workers throughout the automotive industry face growing uncertainty. Many hardworking people risk losing their livelihoods because of unrealistic political targets and a rushed transition.

Change must be balanced, gradual, and based on real-world practicality, not a one-size-fits-all mandate! forced upon the public.

Consumers should have the right to choose the vehicle that best suits their needs, budget, family, location, and work. A balanced approach would allow continued development of cleaner petrol, diesel, hybrid, and alternative fuel technologies while giving people time to adapt naturally and affordably.

We call upon policymakers to reconsider and halt the planned 2030 ban on new petrol and diesel cars and vans, and to protect:

  • Consumer choice and consumer rights
  • Jobs and local businesses
  • Affordable transport for working families
  • Rural and farming communities
  • Practical transport solutions for all citizens

Britain needs realistic transport policies that work for real people.

Please sign this petition to urge the UK Government to reverse the 2030 and 2035 phase-out plans and protect freedom of choice for drivers across the UK.
