Stop the use of live toads in the Toad Suck Daze annual festival!

Toad Suck Daze is an annual festival held in Conway, Arkansas, each May since 1982. The festival includes what is known as the "World Championship Toad Races," in which festival attendees bring live toads to downtown Conway where they are harassed into "racing."

Local children are encouraged to catch live toads and keep them in the weeks proceeding the festival. These toads are taken from their natural habitats, impacting the local ecosystems. The toads are then subject to human handling, living in an unnatural and often unhealthy environment, and then taken to a bustling festival where they are place on a track and harassed to jump and race.

These toads are lucky to survive this stressful experience. Surely as a community, we can find better ways of entertaining ourselves than abusing animals for our amusement! This festival can easily continue on without this archaic tradition. Not all traditions are good ones.

Let's teach our children to be kind to animals and respect them, rather than teaching them to abuse animals for a few minutes of enjoyment.

Please sign this petition to let the Toad Suck Daze Festival and the Conway Chamber of Commerce know that we do not support the abuse of these animals for entertainment.
