Stop the Unnecessary Felling of Mature Trees in Kent

The Issue

Nature in England is in crisis. I am a resident of Kent, deeply concerned about our environment and the wildlife that shares it with us. Our home is under threat due to excessive felling of mature trees and trees deemed 'unsafe' in our area. These trees are not just part of our landscape; they are vital contributors to our ecosystem. They provide habitat for countless species and play a significant role in combating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide.

According to the Woodland Trust, one large tree can absorb up to 150 kg of CO2 per year, making them crucial allies in fighting climate change (source: Woodland Trust). Furthermore, mature trees support more biodiversity than young ones; they provide homes for birds, insects and small mammals (source: RSPB).

Excessive felling not only robs us of these natural treasures but also have far-reaching impacts on local wildlife and contribute further to global warming. We must protect what remains of our natural heritage.

Over the last couple of years I have observed excessive felling of trees especially in the Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve that are deemed as 'unsafe'

I urge you all - residents of Kent or anyone who cares about preserving nature - to oppose these plans. By signing this petition, we can show that we stand together against such destructive actions and demand better solutions that respect both people's needs and environmental sustainability.
