As a resident of Naples, FL, I have always admired the beauty and majesty of alligators. These creatures are not naturally aggressive towards humans but play an integral role in our ecosystem. They help maintain the balance of other species and contribute to biodiversity. However, it deeply saddens me that most alligators reported as a "nuisance" are killed - about 99 percent according to local reports.

In Florida alone, over 8 thousand "nuisance" gators are killed every year. The majority of these reports are based purely on size with any gator over 4 feet being considered a threat. This is an unfair practice by The Quarry and other similar entities that needs immediate attention.

Alligators have been around for millions of years and their survival is crucial for our environment's health. It's high time we stop labeling them as nuisances based on size alone and start recognizing their importance in our ecosystem.

Let's urge The Quarry to reconsider its policies regarding the removal and killing of alligators over 4 feet simply for existing. Let us work together to protect these magnificent creatures from unnecessary harm or death.
