Stop the Unfair Euthanasia of My Blue Pit Bull Terrier

The Issue

My blue pit bull terrier has been an integral part of my life since he was just four weeks old. Now six, he isn't merely a pet, but a cherished family member of paramount importance to me. He has stood by me during a myriad of ups and downs, including the heartbreaking passing of my fiancé. This dog is so connected to our bond that he even sings the special song that my fiancé and I once shared. This isn't just a story of a pet, but of a family. That he is threatened by euthanasia simply because of his breed is beyond comprehension and utterly insane.

My pit bull terrier is not guilty merely on the grounds of breed discrimination. This erroneous stereotype that all pit bull terriers are dangerous has exposed many innocent dogs to undeserved punishment. According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, 'controlled studies have not identified this breed group as disproportionately dangerous.' (Zawistowski et al., 2020). It is a grave injustice that despite evidence, pit bulls continue to be mishandled, misunderstood, and maligned.

I implore you to consider the individual dog rather than the breed. Let our story be heard, and let my family member live the rest of his days in the bliss and warmth he has always known. His breed doesn't define his behavior, his nurturing does. It's time we stop this reign of terror over pit bull terriers and fight against this harsh judgment. Please, sign this petition to save my dog and to advocate for the fair treatment of all pit bull terriers.
