STOP the Transfer of Imaging Technicians from Mission Memorial Hospital

STOP the Transfer of Imaging Technicians from Mission Memorial Hospital
Why this petition matters

The Fraser Valley has been experiencing an increased shortage of health care staff. The pandemic has only worsened the problem. Now it appears that imaging technicians from Mission Memorial Hospital are being asked by the Provincial Health Services Authority to help solve shortages at other hospitals. If such vital staff are redeployed, it can be unsafe for remaining staff to work at a reduced staffing level. Any additional staff shortage such as illness will further reduce imaging services to our community resulting in increased wait times or necessitate travel to other communities for X-ray and ultrasound services.
It is clear that the system is overwhelmed. We believe that this attempt at a solution for other sites was made in haste and without consulting the community or staff members to the detriment of diagnostic services in Mission. Our community wants to have our voice heard and to be part of the solution. Mission residents need and deserve timely local access to critical medical diagnostics such as imaging. We don’t want to continue
to see services removed from Mission to supply other communities.
Signing this petition will show the elected officials we want Fraser Health and the Provincial Health Services to recognize our growing community and to enhance essential services, not reduce them.
