I am boiling mad to read about the tradition of hoisting a wild goat onto a 50 foot platform for several days for the enjoyment of the public and to keep an outdated unnecessary tradition going.

The Puck Fair itself is a wonderful celebration of the rich Kerry heritage and yep let's keep it going but without the need to take a feral animal out of its natural environment and place it in the air for amusement.

 I do not care if a vet says the animal is healthy and well looked after. This practice is just plain wrong. It is unnecessary, cruel and teaches future generations not to respect our wildlife. We are enlightened enough to accept change in this modern Ireland and modify our traditions to still celebrate and protect the heritage, without the humiliation and caging of a wild native animal. Let's petition Kerry County Council to stop this horrific nonsense.
