HELP STOP THE SUBDIVISION
On March 12, 2024 at 7:00 pm there is a meeting about the subdivision at the city hall in Rockmart please show up and let your voices be heard.
Thank you for supporting this effort.
Please contact the council members the email and phone numbers are at the bottom of this.
Say “No” to the proposed subdivision.
Top 3 reasons to stop it:
1) Traffic flow on Carlton Drive cannot handle it. The traffic flow is already very heavy because of the nearly 300-350 homes in the 2 subdivisions and houses already in the Carlton Drive area.
2) Trying to get onto hwy 113 from Carlton Drive will be impossible. It is already nearly impossible.
3) The water pressure is an issue. The old water lines cannot handle the pressure. In our subdivision called the "Old Carlton Subdivision" the water lines burst several times. The city came and replaced them but we still have issues . All of our meters have a pressure reducer but when it goes out the house owner has to pay to have it replaced not the city. We had a water line burst a few months ago on the street I live on and it took over 3 weeks for it to get repaired.
>The proposal 160 single family homes on 26 acres
>Two ways in and out—one Hughes Drive, the other the top of the “Horseshoe” on Carlton Drive. That will add about 400 vehicles to already a nearly impossible way to get on & off of hwy 113 Monday’s – Friday’s especially during school days.
>Don’t forget about the already approved subdivision- 300 new homes behind Family Savings, Arby’s, Mavis, and beside Walmart.
>That will add nearly 600 vehicles to already a high traffic road of hwy 278, hwy 101, and hwy 113. There are going to be 2 ways in and out of that one next to Family Savings, the other on Noland Road.
>Many wrecks in the last 3-5 years have happened at intersection hwy 278 & hwy 113, and coming out of Walmart at the traffic light going across to Chic-fil-a, and intersection at hwy 278 & hwy 101. Some of them have been fatal. At least one of the fatal wrecks happened at the intersection of hwy 278 & hwy 113 it was to a person that lived on Gates Drive which is in the “Old Carlton Subdivision.”
