Stop the strip mall on Seymour Highway and Barnett Rd

The Issue

My sister-in-law, who resides on Barnett Rd. in Wichita Falls, Texas, is deeply concerned about the proposed strip mall being constructed on Seymour Highway and Barnett Rd. Like her, many families have invested their hard-earned money to enjoy the peaceful and picturesque charm of country living. This strip mall threatens to disrupt the tranquility that so many have come to cherish.

The introduction of a strip mall in this serene area will not only tarnish the natural beauty but also bring increased traffic, noise pollution, and potentially lower property values. Moreover, such commercial development in a primarily residential and rural setting is likely to transform the community’s unique character that residents have worked hard to preserve.

Current zoning laws in Wichita Falls should reflect the needs and desires of its inhabitants, prioritizing the preservation of the region's rural nature. We believe that development should be carried out thoughtfully, maintaining a balance between progress and preserving our community's values and quality of life.

There are alternative locations that could be considered for commercial development that do not infringe upon residential areas. These sites could be closer to existing commercial zones where infrastructure and accessibility are already established, thereby minimizing the disruption to residential neighborhoods.

Join us in urging the Wichita Falls city planners to carefully reconsider the decision to build a strip mall at this location. Let us work together to find a solution that respects the needs and wishes of the community, protects our environment, and maintains the idyllic charm of our country's life.
