Stop the Sectarian Orange Order March in Drogheda

Stop the Sectarian Orange Order March in Drogheda
The Issue
Given its deeply hate filled and divisive nature, this petition stems from our resentment—shared by many others—of the annual 12th July march hosted by the Orange Order in Drogheda and the Occupied 6 counties of Ulster.
On the eleventh night in the north of Ireland, the “celebrations” begin by burning bonfires containing tricolours and Irish effigies, leading to a spectacle of hate carried out to the sound of anti Irish songs advocating violence - “up to our knees in Fenian blood”.
Furthermore, the parade on the 12th serves as a triumphalist, derisive gesture aimed at belittling and intimidating the Irish community, passing through nationalist areas in the occupied 6 counties forcing many families to lock their doors and hide or flea south in fear of attack.
Due to the Orange Orders core beliefs being centred around British supremacy, the inherent sectarian nature of the march, and in solidarity with our republican brothers and sisters in the occupied 6 counties, we believe that the march in Drogheda should be opposed by the people and we should push to have it banned.
We call on the local authority and our political representatives to use their power and influence in a timely manner to prevent this event from taking place.
By adding your signature to this petition, you contribute to a larger voice - a voice that rejects hatred and bigotry of all forms. Take a stand against sectarianism, intimidation and mockery. Sign the petition today.
