Last month Canterbury City Council started in house refuse collections and frankly it's been rubbish! We are sick of wasting our time reporting missed collections and seeing our pavements blocked in the hope that the crews will return 'sometime later in the week'.

If someone consistently fails to do their job anywhere else in the world, you wouldn't pay them and demand your money back! Why should the council be any different?

We demand Canterbury City Council and CANECO publish a service guarantee for residents. If the council miss your collection more than three times in a row, you should get some money back. It doesn't have to be cash, maybe rebate towards garden collections or a new bin - but money talks.

If the council believe they can deliver the service then they shouldn't be scared of some further accountability.
