The sound of the Super Hornet Fighter Jet flying over inner Brisbane every year for Riverfire can be intense and upsetting for many people living in the area. 

As a multicultural country it seems extremely inconsiderate to expose migrants, many of whom have fled their own war torn countries, to this unnecessary event.

Ukrainian Community of Queensland (Facebook group) has reported that many Ukrainians living in Brisbane experienced traumatic responses to the Jets doing their practice flights this week over Brisbane and surrounding areas. 

According to ABC News the Jet tears through South Bank to Eagle Street at just 70 meters above Brisbane City buildings at 600 - 900 kilometres per hour.

The Jets cost an estimate of $52 000 per hour for each plane to run. This exorbitant cost could be funnelled into other areas of our community.  

These Jets also burn 100 litres of fuel per minute putting an enormous strain on the environment.
