The Issue

I am a resident of Oakwood Estates, a charming rural community currently facing a threat to its character and way of life. Our community, which is presently zoned for agriculture and residential use, is under proposal for a drastic rezoning to a planned development project for 174 Townhomes.

Frequent interactions with nature, quiet serenity, and a strong sense of community brought us to Oakwood Estates. We chose this living environment to escape the congestion and impersonal nature of high-density urban development. The proposed rezoning threatens to bring what we sought to escape into our backyards.

Furthermore, high-density development can lead to a host of problems; increased traffic congestion, strain on local infrastructure, and even lower property values are possible outcomes as shown by studies like those by Resources for the Future (RFF). It's not just about preserving the charm of Oakwood Estates; it's also about safeguarding the quality of life and financial investments of its residents.

This isn't just a personal concern—it’s a community-wide issue. We, the residents of Oakwood Estates, therefore, call on our local zoning board to reject the proposed rezoning of our community from its current Agricultural Residential usage to a Planned Development Project. We value our way of life, our investment in our properties, and the character of our community above all else.

We urge all concerned citizens and supporters of rural communities to join us in our campaign. Your signature can help preserve the charm, character, and quality of living in Oakwood Estates. Please sign this petition to support our cause!
