Ferny Hills has been my home for many years, and it's not just a place; it's a community. It's where I know my neighbors, where my children play safely on the streets, and where people genuinely care for one another. However, this cherished sense of community is now threatened by proposed rezoning plans.

The rezoning of Ferny Hills could spell disaster for what makes our suburb unique. With these changes, many longstanding residents might face the stark reality of having to move out. The proposed commercial and high-density residential developments do not align with the community-focused atmosphere that we all cherish. Instead, they risk transforming our neighborhood into a transient and impersonal area.

Reports and studies show that such rezoning often increases property values, making it difficult for the current residents to afford living in their own homes. Moreover, increased density can put a strain on local infrastructure, schools, and public services which are not prepared for such rapid expansion. For example, a study by the Urban Institute indicates that rezoning can lead to a significant increase in traffic congestion, reduced green space, and strained public services, ultimately lowering the quality of life for current residents.

Furthermore, this plan seems to benefit corporations and large developers more than it supports the needs and desires of the community. We believe in development that is sustainable and suitable, but not at the cost of our people's well-being and community bonds.

We must act now to protect the character of Ferny Hills and ensure it remains a community-focused suburb. I urge everyone who loves their neighborhood and values their community's spirit to come together and sign this petition. Let's stand united against rezoning plans that threaten our homes, our community, and our way of life. Sign the petition to make your voice heard!
