Petition Against Retrospective Planning Permission for 28 Nant Hall Road, Prestatyn

We, the undersigned, strongly object to the retrospective planning application for 28 Nant Hall Road, Prestatyn, to change its use from a family home into hostel accommodation for homeless persons.

This development has already begun operating without approval or community consultation, bypassing the democratic planning process and undermining public trust. Retrospective permission should not be used to force through a development that would never have been accepted if proposed openly from the start.

Our concerns include:

Public Safety – Since opening, police have confirmed 19 incidents linked to the property, including drug dealing, assaults, safeguarding issues involving children, domestic violence and harassment. This is wholly inappropriate next to a junior school and in the heart of our town.

Location – Placing such a facility in a densely populated residential area, beside schools and struggling businesses, is irresponsible and fails to meet local planning policies designed to protect community amenity and wellbeing.

Lack of Need – Prestatyn does not have a significant homelessness issue. This facility risks importing problems from neighbouring towns rather than addressing local needs.

Precedent – Allowing this retrospective application would set a dangerous precedent, encouraging other developments to ignore planning law and public scrutiny.

This is not about a lack of compassion. We support appropriate, well-managed services for vulnerable people in suitable and sustainable locations. But this application is reckless, unsafe, and damaging to the future of our town.

👉 We therefore call on Denbighshire County Council to reject this retrospective planning application and take enforcement action to restore 28 Nant Hall Road to lawful residential use.
