The United States is trying to pass The RESTRICT Act (S. 686)

This bill is being phrased as "proposed legislation that was first introduced in the United States Senate on March 7, 2023. To authorize the Secretary of Commerce to review and prohibit certain transactions between persons in the United States and foreign adversaries, and for other purposes." While this sounds nice, it unfortunately will spell disaster for the future of all Americans. 

If this bill were to go through, then the government will have authority over all forms of communication domestic or abroad and grants powers to “enforce any mitigation measure to address any risk” to national security now and in any “potential future transaction” Meaning that even if nothing bad happens immediately, they have the power to easily change that if they deem another country or party a "risk" to the United States. They will use this power to take control and spy on people through any means. This includes the following:

An equity interest, a stock, a security, a share, a partnership interest, an interest in a limited liability company, a membership interest, or any participation, right, or other equivalent, however designated and of any character

and

any entity that: owns, controls, or manages information and communications technology products or services; has not less than 1000000 united states based annual active users at any point during the year period preceding the date on which the covered holding is referred to the president or, for which more than 1000000 units have been sold to persons in the United States before the date on which the covered holding is referred to the president. 

All of this means any: hardware, software, or other product or service primarily intended to fulfill or enable the function of information or data processing, storage, retrieval, or communication by electronic means, including transmission, storage, and display. (Pretty much everything everyone uses everyday)

Now is the time to act! The United States is the land of the Free! We do not need the government to gain this much power. The power should be left in the hands of the people. The do no deserve to have their freedom risked, based on one person and their committee. As we all know, when someone gets that much power, it can and will, be used for malicious and illegal reasons. 

We have to stop it before it's too late. We do not need to become the same thing that they are "protecting" us from, which is an authoritarian regime. We cannot allow our governing body to have full access to decide what is "a threat online" as it can change any day that the committee sees fit. They even have it covering "quantum encryption" which is still in it's early period. They are scared and want control, making them preemptively target things Americans use daily.  It honestly is blanket law to make the United States Government an authoritarian state. 

As much as we say we don't like China's policies with their people, the US is trying to start the same thing here. It must be stopped before it can't be.
