The Issue

I am a dog lover, and I firmly believe that just as humans have the right to live in this world, so do dogs. Our canine companions have enriched our lives with their loyalty and companionship for centuries. However, the recent orders by the Supreme Court to remove street dogs from the roads in India are threatening their existence. This move has not only put these innocent animals at risk but also created a dangerous precedent for how we treat defenceless creatures.

Street dogs in India are not our enemies. They are misunderstood beings that need our compassion and care to live peacefully alongside us. Many of these animals are vulnerable, lacking the necessary food, shelter, and medical care. By providing them with proper sterilization and vaccination, we can control their population humanely and ensure both their safety and ours.

Furthermore, there are not enough shelters available to house all the street dogs if they were removed. Simply displacing them without a concrete plan will only lead to unnecessary suffering and potential harm. The current order by the Supreme Court may inadvertently embolden those with cruel intentions towards these animals, as it seems to justify acts of violence against them. This is unjust and should not be tolerated under any circumstances.

We urge the Honourable Supreme Court of India and concerned authorities to revisit and rescind the previous orders that mandate the removal of street dogs. Instead, focus should be on initiatives that promote humane treatment, such as implementing wide-scale sterilization and vaccination programs, and providing basic needs like food and water. This will not only safeguard the lives of these dogs but also maintain ecological balance.

Let's stand together to protect the street dogs of India, ensuring they are treated with the kindness and dignity they deserve. Sign this petition to show your support for a compassionate and humane approach that values the lives of all creatures, big and small. Together, we can make a difference for our furry friends.
