Moles are known as beauty marks or birthmarks and have been associated with charm and uniqueness in many cultures across the world. They often become defining features that contribute to a person's identity, both to themselves and to those who cherish them. Such is the case with my father, whose facial mole is a significant part of his appearance and personality.

Recently, a proposal for the surgical removal of my father's facial mole has been discussed. While surgery can sometimes be unavoidable for health reasons, in this case, it appears to be unnecessary and merely cosmetic. At the age of 42, my father has lived with his mole as part of his identity for his entire life. Removing it now could strip him of a piece of himself that he, and all that love him, have known and appreciated. It's an emotional element of his persona that connects with us as a family.
