The Issue

As the headteacher of a school in the heart of Bournemouth, I am deeply concerned about the safety of our children. After nearly ten years of dedicated service, the council has made the decision to make our wonderful school lollipop lady, Suzanne, redundant. This decision puts our children at risk and forces them to cross a perilous, busy road unaided.

The road outside our school is a hazard. Despite the presence of 20mph signs, cars often speed past, and parking is chaotic and inconsiderate. We've already witnessed near misses, and it is only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs. Suzanne's presence has been more than just a comfort; it has been a lifesaver. Her familiar face reassures both children and parents, and her vigilant eyes have undoubtedly prevented numerous incidents.

Without Suzanne, I'm terrified that the children won't be safe. Our community thrives on its togetherness, and Suzanne is an integral part of this. Staff, parents, and especially our young students adore her. She doesn't just help them cross the road; she teaches them about road safety and kindness.

We cannot overlook the significance of a lollipop lady in our community. Suzanne's redundancy is not just about cutting costs; it's a risk to our children's safety. We urge the council to reconsider their decision and ensure that our children can continue to arrive safely at school.

Please sign this petition to support the reinstatement of Suzanne as our school lollipop lady and to secure safer crossing conditions for everyone in our community.
