Stop the Proposed Wind Farm on Hill of Foudland

The Issue

The Hill of Foudland, a cherished landscape in Aberdeenshire, is under threat by the proposal to construct a wind farm that could have detrimental effects on the local environment, wildlife, and community. While renewable energy is vital for our future, it's crucial that such projects do not compromise the natural beauty and biodiversity of our unique landscapes, or destroy the cultural heritage.

Aberdeenshire is renowned for its stunning vistas, rolling hills and vibrant ecosystems that offer sanctuary to countless species. The Hill of Foudland is not only a haven for diverse flora and fauna but also a place of recreation and tranquility for local residents and visitors. The proposed wind farm threatens this harmony by introducing industrial structures that will dominate the landscape, potentially disrupting wildlife and altering the character of the area.

Moreover, the noise pollution and the potential risk to migratory birds and local wildlife pose serious environmental concerns. Past studies have shown that wind farms can have significant negative impacts on bird populations, particularly for species that are already vulnerable.

Noise pollution, blade flicker, ice throw in winter and the enormous visual impact of 200m high turbines will be hugely detrimental to the area. Already over 200 wind turbines are visible from the top of Foudland Hill. The cumulative impact of these massive developments is rapidly destroying the landscape of Aberdeenshire.

Hill of Foudland, along with Bennachie and Tap o' Noth, are the last of the Grampian Outliers still covered in heather moorland and largely untouched by industrial development or blanket forestry.

While the need for sustainable energy solutions is undeniable, it is imperative to evaluate and select locations that do not harm our natural heritage. Alternative sites with lesser environmental impact should be thoroughly considered to meet our energy needs without desecrating these treasured landscapes.

We urge the local authorities and decision-makers to reconsider this proposal and protect the Hill of Foudland from industrial encroachment. It is vital for the current and future generations that we preserve this area for its natural beauty and ecological significance.

Please sign this petition to voice your opposition against the proposed wind farm and to advocate for responsible and environmentally friendly energy solutions that honor and protect our natural environment.
