We object to this development for three primary reasons.
First, Indian Hills relies on a fragile and limited water supply from alluvial wells. Adding additional cabins to a previous development for commercial purposes places an unsustainable burden on our local resources.
Second, residents are already burdened with a very high risk of wildfire in Indian Hills, with only two ways to exit in the event of a mandatory evacuation. Per the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) of the Indian Hills Fire Protection District, the proposed development area has extreme relative fire hazard ratings due to the potential for extreme fire behavior in dense forests and steep slopes. Visitors to Indian Hills not only may be unaware of this danger, thus heightening risk to the entire community, but also, the additional population would add to the evacuation problem for the entire community.
Third, additional commercial development will create additional traffic on a narrow, winding two-lane road that already has heavy traffic from commuters and weekend visitors. The proposed development will increase traffic in an area with many homes along the main road and abundant wildlife.
Despite further problems that could be caused by a short-term rental complex, we believe these three primary issues are serious enough to halt the proposed development.
The system we use for water is old and fragile. We are worried adding another business will cause problems. People’s residential homes are very close, tourists will be making noise not thinking about being noise the middle of a neighborhood. The location of this proposed business is not appropriate and is going to change the character of this small town
