We, the residents of Mickleham and surrounding suburbs, respectfully call on Hume City Council and relevant planning authorities to reconsider the scale and impact of the proposed large-scale Islamic sanctuary development on Donnybrook Road.

This petition is not against religion or cultural expression — it is about ensuring responsible, sustainable development that aligns with our infrastructure capacity, community wellbeing, and the suburban lifestyle that residents value and invested in.

Why This Matters

The proposed multimillion-dollar project includes a 2000-person mosque, Islamic school, medical centre, function centre, café, shops, and other facilities — all concentrated in one location. While we support the right to build community infrastructure, this development is too large for Mickleham’s current infrastructure and raises the following concerns:

• Traffic Congestion: Donnybrook Road and surrounding streets are already overburdened. Thousands of extra cars during events, school times, and religious gatherings will severely worsen congestion and increase road safety risks.
