The Issue

The Kelly Pub has been a landmark in our community, a place filled with memories of happier times, where laughter and friendly chats were the norm. However, today, it stands at the brink of becoming something completely different - a House in Multiple Occupation (HMO) intended to house more immigrants in our beloved Hebburn. As a parent, I am deeply concerned about the impact this will have on our children and community.

Hebburn has always been a place where families feel safe, where children can play freely, and where everyone knows each other's names. Introducing an HMO in place of The Kelly Pub threatens to disrupt this sense of security and community cohesion. Increasing the area's population density without considering the current infrastructure could lead to overcrowding, strain on local resources, and increased traffic, making it unsafe for our children.

Our community values should prioritize family welfare and safety above all. Instead of converting The Kelly Pub into an HMO, we urge the local authorities to explore alternative uses for the site that align with the wishes and needs of the residents. This could include community centers, libraries, or recreational areas that enhance rather than detract from Hebburn's family-friendly environment.

We have nothing against welcoming new residents into our community, but it must be done in a way that preserves our values and ensures a harmonious future for all. Let us stand together to protect Hebburn from unwanted developments and maintain it as a safe, vibrant place for our children to grow up.

Please sign this petition to urge the local council to reconsider granting permission for the HMO at The Kelly Pub. Together, let's work towards a solution that benefits everyone in Hebburn.
