Stop the Proposed Development That Will Overwhelm Our Roads and Schools

The Issue

Our community is at a turning point. A new development—Severna Park Golf—is being considered for approval, and if it moves forward as proposed, it will significantly worsen two problems we’re already struggling with every day: severe traffic congestion and overcrowded schools.

We, the residents of Arnold, are calling on the City Council  to halt this project until real, sustainable solutions are in place.

Why This Matters
🚗 Traffic Is Already Unmanageable
The roads surrounding the proposed site are among the most congested in our community. Adding hundreds of new vehicles will increase commute times, create safety hazards, and make it harder for emergency services to reach those in need. Our infrastructure cannot handle more traffic without serious upgrades.

🏫 Our Schools Are Over Capacity
Local schools are full—some are using temporary classrooms, combining grade levels, or stretching staff to their limits. This development would add even more students without providing the necessary space, funding, or long-term planning needed to support them. Our children’s education and safety depend on addressing overcrowding before adding more families.

⚠️ Infrastructure First, Development Second
Growth isn’t the issue—irresponsible growth is. The city should not approve large-scale housing or commercial projects without ensuring our roads, schools, and public services can support them.

What We’re Asking For
We urge the City Council  to:

Reject the proposed development in its current form, and
Require a comprehensive plan addressing traffic management, roadway upgrades, and school capacity before any approval is granted.
