Stop the Proposed Cell Tower at 22423 Jefferies Road. Protect Our Community!
The Issue
We, the residents and concerned citizens of Middlesex Centre, strongly oppose the proposed construction of a telecommunication tower at 22423 Jefferies Road.
Why We’re Concerned:
The proposed tower would be located:
• Next to numerous businesses including a daycare centre and midwifery clinic
• Within close proximity of residential homes (below the required 150-metre setback).
This location puts vulnerable populations including infants, children, pregnant individuals, and families at potential risk.
⚠️ Health & Safety Risks
• Long-term exposure to radiofrequency radiation (RFR) is still being studied, but early research suggests possible links to health issues such as oxidative stress, neurological effects, and even cancer.
• The World Health Organization has classified RFR as “possibly carcinogenic to humans.”
Impact on Our Neighbourhood
• The tower will disrupt the peaceful character of our community.
• It may reduce property values and discourage families from moving into the area.
• It sets a dangerous precedent for placing industrial infrastructure near sensitive community spaces.
Planning Violations
The application seeks a variance to reduce the required lot size and setback distance. But this is not minor when it affects the health, safety, and well-being of our community.
What We’re Asking:
We urge the Municipality of Middlesex Centre Committee of Adjustment to:
• Reject the minor variance application (A-24-2025)
• Uphold the zoning by-law requirements
• Relocate the tower to a safer, non-residential area.
