Stop the Proposed Boundary Changes Affecting Imperial Golf Estates

Stop the Proposed Boundary Changes Affecting Imperial Golf Estates
The Issue
The school board is proposing boundary modifications that would require children from Imperial Golf Estates to attend Naples Park Elementary instead of Veterans Memorial Elementary.
This change could disrupt the educational continuity and social stability of our children, which are crucial for their overall development. Frequent changes in schools can negatively impact a child's academic performance and socio-emotional health.
The School Board's proposal blatantly disregards that Imperial Golf Estates has a back entrance/exit at Entrada Avenue that puts our community within 3 minutes of Veteran's Memorial Elementary. It is well documented that proximity and distance to school impacts students and families. Routing our children further away, across dangerous Highway 41 and into an already-overcrowded intersection such as Highway 41 and Immokalee will negatively impact them.
The School Board furnished no formal reports accompanying their proposal that show they have adequately assessed the Naples Park Elementary School (an older facility) for facility adequacy, even as they look to increase its student population by roughly 67%.
The School Board has furnished no formal reports accompanying their proposal that show they adequately assessed the areas surrounding Naples Park Elementary for safety. Naples Park has changed significantly in recent years, and there are now thousands of vacation rentals. Data shows that with vacation rentals comes higher crime.
For these reasons, and many more, we believe that our community should have a say in decisions that directly impact our children's education and safety. Therefore, and with urgency, we ask that the school board reconsider this proposal and remove Imperial Golf Estates neighborhood from these proposed boundary modifications. Our students should remain at Veteran's Memorial Elementary.
