Stop the Proposed 90-Home Development on Green Belt Land off School Lane, Guilden Su

The Issue

We, the undersigned, strongly object to the proposed development of approximately 90 houses on Green Belt land off School Lane in Guilden Sutton.

This proposal would result in the loss of valuable open countryside that forms part of the village’s Green Belt. Green Belt land is designated to prevent urban sprawl, protect the rural character of communities, and safeguard the countryside for future generations.

We are deeply concerned that a development of this scale would:
 • Cause significant harm to the openness and character of the Green Belt
 • Introduce substantial additional traffic onto School Lane and surrounding roads, raising serious road safety concerns
 • Place increased pressure on already stretched local infrastructure, including schools, healthcare, and public services
 • Set a precedent for further encroachment and gradual loss of Green Belt land
 • Damage local wildlife habitats and reduce biodiversity

Green Belt policy exists to protect areas such as this from inappropriate development except in very special circumstances. We do not believe that the construction of 90 houses in this location meets that threshold.

We respectfully call on Cheshire West and Chester Council to refuse this application and to prioritise development on more suitable brownfield sites instead of protected Green Belt land.
