The Issue

The proposed development of a 62-unit affordable housing apartment building at 4851 Route 42, nestled between Midas and the pest control building, poses significant risks to our community’s safety, infrastructure, and overall quality of life.

As a resident of this community, I am gravely concerned about the repercussions this project will have on our local area. Increased traffic congestion and insufficient parking are among the immediate issues that come to mind. With the only entrance and exit situated directly in front of the ambulance hall, this project poses a substantial risk to emergency response times in critical situations. Delaying an ambulance even by a minute can have life-threatening consequences.

Additionally, this area has existing concerns related to flooding and adequate drainage systems. Adding a large structure could easily overwhelm these systems, resulting in significant property damage to surrounding buildings and increased risk of flood-related issues. Homeowners and business owners nearby are rightly worried about the implications of such a development on their properties in terms of both value and safety.

We, as a community, must carefully consider the potential impact of this project. The safety of residents, preservation of property, and livability of our area should be our top priorities when evaluating new developments. I'm urging local authorities to reassess the location and possibly seek alternative solutions to meet housing needs without compromising our community's welfare.

By signing this petition, you are advocating for responsible and thoughtful community planning. Your support is crucial in urging decision-makers to place the community's safety and well-being above rapid development. Please join me in stopping the construction of the 62-unit apartment complex at 4851 Route 42. Sign this petition and help protect our community today.
