Stop the proposal for a new housing development in North Stifford Village

The Issue

 1: Who is affected?

All the residence of North Stifford will be affected by the issues raised. Only residents should sign this petition.

 2: What is at stake?

Issues with the proposal:

Traffic congestion - Clockhouse Lane already has problems with traffic so cannot cope with any more cars that will use this new route as a cut through. The existing roads are not designed for more traffic they are narrow roads used by the residents but not suitable for passing traffic. It will also be unsafe for families with kids with cars passing through and without consideration for the residents.
2. Overcrowding - the surrounding area already suffers from overcrowding so this will just make it worse - for the local trains, roads, and local amenities.
3. No secondary school admissions available
4. Lack of NHS Drs in catchment
5. Lack of NHS Dentists in catchment
6. Loss of wildlife
7. Loss of fox and rabbit habitats
8. Loss of green belt land and removal of some trees
9. Loss of village and community
10. The care home design is unacceptable - too big, 2 buildings disguised as one with a small corridor joining the 2 buildings, too tall - three stories, not in keeping with the houses in the area, a big eye sore on green belt land, and with a large car park removing even more green belt land used by the staff.
11. Parking in the area will be negatively impacted by visitors to the area with lack of parking provision for visitors and households.
12. The benefits to the local residents is almost zero apart from the play area but with all the negative impact.
13. Increase in crime - car theft and burglary in the area already high.
14. Increase in pollution and air quality will suffer.
15. Lack of information distributed to houses by developer.

3: Why is now the time to act?

This needs action now as the deadline for providing feedback to the council is around 25th August and this petition will need to be submitted to the Planning committee before the meeting which will be soon after the deadline.
