Stop the Planned Development of 19 Houses in Our 5-Acre Forest

Stop the Planned Development of 19 Houses in Our 5-Acre Forest
The Issue
Hello Fellow Community Members!
Update (1/24/24) To help with lawyer fees, please donate through our GoFundMe! https://www.gofundme.com/manage/save-lake-bonneys-greenbelt-legal-help-needed
This petition aims to express our strong opposition to the proposed development of 19 houses in our beloved 5-acre forest to our city council.
Many of us submitted comments of opposition earlier citing many safety and environmental concerns, but have felt ignored and let down by our city's approval of the development (and the subsequent $4k required to appeal the approved SEPA).
BUT....
The Lake Bonney Conservation Association has filed an appeal to the tree-cutting permit on all our behalves to halt the immediate destruction of the forest and subsequent construction.
The developers clearly did not research our historic and quiet part of Bonney Lake, and this development is nothing more than a cash grab for them.
The SEPA and tree-cutting permit were riddled with inaccuracies about our community and the land where the forest is located. We plan to present all of these findings during the ongoing appeal process.
Why this Matters!
If you are like us, you enjoy this quieter part of Bonney Lake. Many of us live in older homes and enjoy larger lots. We live on the original 1,000 acres which Bonney Lake was incorporated with in 1949. The proposed 19 houses would become some of the smallest lots in all Bonney Lake and do not belong in this unique and historic part of our town.
- The construction will cause increased traffic, noise pollution, and air quality concerns for years.
- The loss of the forest to build 19 houses will permanently
- Increases traffic and noise
- Disrupts our natural wind barrier
- Leads to harmful pollution runoff into Lake Bonney
- Deprive us of green spaces integral to our community's charm and attraction
We call upon our City Council to review this plan thoughtfully and consider the significant negative impacts on our community, our health, and our environment.
Please sign this petition to show your support for this important cause!
You may also consider attending the next city council meeting on Tuesday, January 28th at 6:00 pm in City Hall.
A GoFundMe will be started if we need to hire an environmental lawyer for the appeal process.
