Every year in the little village of Bassiano (LT), Italy, takes place "la corsa dei porci". It's one of the many barbarian Italian traditions, like the "Palio" (brutal horse race), or various "feasts" in which animals are victims.

Pigs are forced to run in the streets, tired to the hind leg, repeatedly beaten, to make them run faster

The human winner can take home the Pig winner, who will be slaughtered.

Isn't this horrible, cruel and inhumane? We left our caverns centuries ago, it's about time to evolve, and choose other ways to have fun

Ogni anno a Bassiano (LT) il 26 luglio ha luogo “ la corsa dei porci “. La corsa consiste nel far correre dei maiali, sull’asfalto, per le vie della cittadina. I poveri maiali, come si può vedere dal video riportato sotto, vengono legati alla zampa posteriore con una cordicella e letteralmente percossi dai conducenti, strattonati, tirati per le orecchie, trascinati con forza, affinchè corrano più speditamente. Lo stupido di turn...o che arriva per primo, vince il maiale, che ovviamente ucciderà successivamente.Questa manifestazione rappresenta una tradizione davvero barbara e incivile,altamente diseducativa e tale da istigare alla violenza sui deboli e sugli indifesi.
