Stop the partial deconsecration of Calderstones Cemetery to build a Crematorium

Stop the partial deconsecration of Calderstones Cemetery to build a Crematorium
The Issue
KEEP THE FAITH!!
The Friends of Calderstones Hospital Cemetery need your HELP!
Please object to the deconsecration of part of the cemetery allowing a crematorium to be built
There are over 1172 former patients, staff and others in the cemetery. The Friends of Calderstones Hospital Cemetery are trying to protect them. Removing consecration on part of the site will
- allow a crematorium to be built
- disturb burials
- create road and car parks on consecrated land containing burials
The plans from the bishop are posted on the cemetery gates and you can also see the plans and object via - The Diocese of Blackburn website -

DEADLINE - Thursday 8th March 2024
Please make sure you read the donations section on the 'change' website, it is not connected to the 'friends' and is not required

The bishop is asking for representations concerning the application in writing therefore we will print this petition off for him.
I am signing as an individual and have not been coerced in any way. I have read the Public Notice by the Archdeacon on the website link and which was posted on the Cemetery gates dated 9th February 2024.
We feel this peaceful resting place, part of the Calderstones history, very much loved by the community and even those from afar who have family ties to this cemetery, should be left in peace. If only you could have seen this beautiful place before it was left in a state, work's already been carried out to make a mess (and that also may have caused disturbance to the poor souls there), please, please consider the feelings of the families and community when making a decision.......
