For years the horses along highway #8 have been left to roam with minimal care. Highway 8 connects Spences Bridge to Merritt BC.

In the winter they starve and in the summer they’re a danger for motorists travelling the highway. There are so many blind corners on this winding highway that they keep being killed. This past summer has seen 3 killed by vehicles.

within this herd are stallions that keep breeding and perpetuating the problem. These horses are owned by Shackan band members and are not “feral” allowing for a rescue to step in. 

I am an avid horsewoman and horses are my favourite thing in the whole world. I love seeing them but enough is enough. This neglect is killing the horses. When will this end? When a person is killed? What if it’s your family who hits them coming around a corner in the dark? 

Please help me spread awareness and force the owners to care for their animals or sell them to others who are willing to do so.
