I am a resident of New York, and like many others, find it increasingly difficult to live and commute to Manhattan. The cost of everything is skyrocketing, making even simply existing here a challenge. Commuting to the city is already an expensive affair when you factor in gas, tolls, and ridiculously high parking rates. The alternative to take public transportation is not always realistic and will cause more harm then good with the tax in effect. This tax will not only add to everyone's financial stress, but also increase the number of people using public transportation which is already stretched beyond its capacity. 

Our public transportation system - subways and buses - are already overcrowded and unsanitary. Not only is safety a major concern in our subways, but now the increased public transportation commuter traffic will lead to more delays and heightened risk of crime as people avoid driving into Manhattan. Individuals will also attempt to park above 60th street and take the subways to mid and lower Manhattan, resulting in more congestion on the already congested public transportation systems. 

I am urging government officials to fight against this tax that is going to ultimately negatively impact everyone.
