Liya S started this petition to BBC and

Media outlets such as The Sun, The Daily Mail and The Telegraph continuously target ethnic minorities.

We must make a change. The protests and the riots are clearly not enough for the media to understand that all ethnic minorities suffer more because of how they portray Black Lives, Muslims and Asians. We must fight back. We must not allow the media to continue to encourage racism by their headlines. We are all human and we deserve better!

THE MEDIA MUST STOP LABELLING INDIVIDUALS. To start off with, the media should not be allowed to write the background of an individual. Why must they include that the two accused suspects are African or that two Muslims are presumed to be terrorists or that corona was caused by China. The media should tackle hate groups such as the KKK and EDL instead of giving their behaviour motivation. These outlets cause social media attacks and more importantly physical attacks on innocent lives.

Apps such as Tik Tok also need to look further into establishing stricter guidelines since it allows individuals to advertise discrimination and mass hate towards a particular group of people.

The colour, the race and the religion of a person should not affect the perception of individuals. The government need to implement new legislation that prevents the media to continue with these discriminating articles.

We have a long way to go to minimise racism, however we need to start by eliminating the encouraging factors.
