Stop the Lies: Uber Eats Must Be Transparent About Pay, Tips, and Mileage

Stop the Lies: Uber Eats Must Be Transparent About Pay, Tips, and Mileage
The Issue
We, the drivers of Uber Eats, are calling for truth and transparency in how we are paid. Every day, drivers deliver food across towns and cities — using our own cars, gas, and time — only to find that the information we’re given about pay and mileage often doesn’t match reality.
Here’s what we’ve experienced:
False mileage estimates: The actual distance we drive is often much farther than what’s shown before accepting a delivery.
Unexplained pay cuts: Drivers have seen total earnings drop after large customer tips come through.
Unreasonably low base pay: Some deliveries pay as little as $1–$2, even when the trip takes 20 minutes or more.
We are not asking for charity — we are asking for basic fairness and honest pay.
We’re demanding that Uber Eats:
1. Display accurate mileage and time estimates before accepting any order.
2. Provide a detailed, honest pay breakdown after each delivery (base pay, mileage, and tip).
3. Guarantee that 100% of customer tips go directly to drivers — without adjusting the base fare.
4. Stop lowering fares when customers tip generously.
5. Communicate openly about any changes to the pay system.
If you believe in fairness, honesty, and respect for workers — sign this petition.
We’re not asking for extra bonuses or handouts. We’re asking Uber Eats to do what’s right: be transparent and give drivers the truth about what we earn.
Together, we can push for real change.
Fair pay******Honest miles
*****Real transparency*****
I’ve been driving for Uber Eats, and like thousands of other drivers, I’ve experienced something that just doesn’t feel right. We’re being misled about what we’ll earn, how far we’ll drive, and how our tips are handled.
When we accept a delivery, Uber Eats shows us an estimated payout and mileage. But too often, those numbers are not accurate. The trip ends up being farther than shown, or the pay drops after the delivery is complete — especially when customers tip well. It’s frustrating, confusing, and it feels dishonest.
There have been many times when I’ve driven miles across town, using my own gas, putting wear and tear on my car, and spending 20 to 30 minutes on one order, only to make $2 or $3. Sometimes, when a customer leaves a generous tip, the base fare mysteriously drops. Uber Eats claims that drivers receive 100% of customer tips, but what’s really happening behind the scenes doesn’t add up.
Drivers shouldn’t have to do detective work just to understand how we’re paid. We should be able to see clear, accurate information about mileage, base pay, and tips before and after each delivery.
This isn’t just about one driver or one trip — it’s about a system that lacks transparency. We are the people who keep Uber Eats running. We deliver food through traffic, rain, and late nights. We take the risks, but Uber Eats controls the information and the money.
Many drivers depend on this work to pay bills and support families. But without clear pay structures, we can’t plan our time, our income, or even cover basic expenses like gas and car maintenance.
When companies like Uber Eats hide how pay is calculated or manipulate base fares, it’s not just unfair — it’s unethical. Transparency shouldn’t be too much to ask for.
