Stop the IRSC Okee-One Data Center

Stop the IRSC Okee-One Data Center
The Issue
What started as a community campaign has quickly grown into a statewide initiative.
Residents across Okeechobee County came together to raise concerns about the proposed Okee-One Data Center and its potential impacts on our water, health, infrastructure, and way of life. As this effort has grown, it has become clear that this decision extends far beyond our county. It now involves Indian River State College leadership, state agencies, and elected officials at multiple levels of government.
The proposed site sits in a hydrologically sensitive region connected to Lake Okeechobee, one of Florida’s most critical water systems and a cornerstone of the Everglades ecosystem. Industrial-scale data centers bring significant risks, including high water consumption, increased strain on energy infrastructure, and public health concerns tied to emissions and site redevelopment.
Because of this, we are expanding our efforts and calling on decision makers at every level to act.
We encourage all supporters to make their voices heard:

This is no longer just about one project in one county. It is about setting a precedent for how and where industrial-scale data infrastructure is developed across Florida.
We are not against progress. We are for responsible, evidence-based growth that protects our water, our communities, and our future.
Now is the time to act!
