The Issue

Darris Close is a quiet, private residential road, nestled in our community and lined with the homes of families who treasure its charm and accessibility. Recently, there has been a proposal to introduce double yellow lines on one side of Darris Close. This seemingly minor change, however, poses a major disruption to our way of life and the harmony of our neighborhood.

The plan to introduce these lines on only one side creates a fundamentally unfair and unbalanced impact. While one side of the road is proposed to be restricted, the other remains free, despite both sides being used equally by residents, visitors, carers, and delivery vehicles. This inconsistency is not just a matter of inconvenience, it's a matter of equity for all who live and operate on Darris Close.

Parking is already a challenge on our road. Introducing double yellow lines would significantly reduce already limited parking, making it even harder for families to find a spot. This proposal disproportionately affects certain homes, leaving them practically stranded with no viable parking options. Furthermore, it provides no alternative solutions or compensations for those who rely on street parking.

By installing double yellow lines, we risk creating unnecessary tensions among neighbors and complicating the lives of those who provide indispensable services, like carers, delivery personnel, and service workers. This restriction doesn't just affect individuals with driveways, but especially targets those without, pushing their vehicles further away from their homes and potentially increasing safety concerns.

We, the residents of Darris Close, call upon our local council to reconsider this proposal. We strongly believe that a more inclusive, balanced solution can be found, one that takes into account the needs of all residents and users of our street. An approach that is considerate, equitable, and ensures the continued convenience and well-being of our community.

We urge everyone who shares our concerns to join us. Sign this petition and help us protect the balance and accessibility of Darris Close for the good of all who call it home.
