Stop the Installation of a Ski Course on Swearing Creek

Stop the Installation of a Ski Course on Swearing Creek
The Issue
Living on the peaceful shores of Swearing Creek, part of High Rock Lake, I cherish the tranquility and safety of our waters. However, the proposal to install a slalom ski course in our creek threatens to disrupt this harmony and bring a host of problems to our beloved community in Lexington, NC.
First and foremost, the introduction of a ski course would drastically increase boat traffic. Our creek, which usually hosts leisurely activities like kayaking, fishing, swimming and canoeing, would become a bustling site for high-speed boats that accompany a ski course. This surge in traffic not only endangers the peaceful environment but also poses significant risks to those enjoying the water for more passive recreational activities.
Moreover, the environmental impact cannot be overlooked. Increased boat activity disrupts natural habitats and can have detrimental effects on aquatic life due to water pollution and shoreline erosion. The ecological balance of Swearing Creek, a vital component of the local ecosystem, is at serious risk.
The installation of a ski course also creates navigation hazards. The safety of our community members, including families and children who often swim and play in these waters, should be a top priority. Obstructions in the water can result in accidents, potentially causing injuries that could have been preventable.
Additionally, the presence of a ski course will take away from the safe activities that many residents currently enjoy. The joy of peacefully paddling along the creek, observing nature, and spending quality time with family and friends will be overshadowed by safety concerns and the noise of high-powered boats.
Join me in opposing this project to preserve the serenity, safety, and ecological integrity of Swearing Creek. Protect our community's right to a safe and peaceful environment. Please sign this petition to stop the installation of the slalom ski course on Swearing Creek.
