The Issue

As one of many local residents who drives through this area often, I am directly affected by and deeply concerned about the proposed installation of a round-about on Sophus Road in Blyn, WA.   This location lies on a major highway that goes through/by the Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe land with Gas station, Deli, and Cannabis Store; where traffic already slows down to 45 mph. The proposed round-about would further reduce the speed limit to a mere 25 mph, leading to unnecessary delays and potential accidents. It is important to mention that this area heavily traveled by  large trucks bringing in supplies to Clallam County.   For truckers, this new structure would not only prove inefficient but could also increase the risk of accidents, being impractical and dangerous.

In previous meetings, the majority of the public has clearly expressed that they do not see the need for this round-about.  With third-party research showing that roundabouts can lead to a 39% increase in vehicle collisions (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), it is irresponsible and potentially harmful to consider implementing this plan again. This petition seeks to emphasize the public's stance against this proposal and asks that the plan be reconsidered to ensure the safety of all road users. Sign this petition to stop the unnecessary and potentially harmful installation of a round-about on Sophus Road in Blyn, WA.
