Residents of Parsons, West Virginia, are facing an overwhelming and unfair financial burden due to continuous and unjustified increases in water rates. In the past year, the City of Parsons raised water costs significantly, placing hundreds of families under mounting financial strain. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median household income in Parsons is about $47,000  nearly 25% lower than the national average. With these economic realities, repeated rate hikes are devastating for working families, seniors on fixed incomes, and low income residents. These increases come at a time when West Virginians already pay some of the highest average water bills in the nation.

Residents are calling for immediate action  not another increase. The City of Parsons must halt any proposed water rate hikes. Releasing detailed explanations of how funds are being managed and why additional revenue is claimed to be necessary.
