Stop the Implementation of the Titles of Nobility Amendment

Stop the Implementation of the Titles of Nobility Amendment
The Issue
Every person regardless of race, color, sex, religion, or age needs to be acknowledged and honoured in their own way even if it is outside of their home nation's borders for their good work and inspiring qualities.
I am a passionate advocate for the honors systems that countries around the world have in place. These systems give due recognition to citizens and foreign nationals who make significant contributions to their birth and host nations. However, I am deeply concerned about the proposed Titles of Nobility Amendment.
The Titles of Nobility Amendment threatens these honour systems by stripping citizenship from any American accepting a title of nobility or honor from a foreign nation without congressional approval. This amendment, originally proposed in 1810, has been ratified by 12 states so far (US House Journal). If it gains further traction, it could undermine our ability to recognize those who truly deserve acknowledgment for their contributions. This is very stifling and can cause unnecessary consternation.
Furthermore, this amendment could potentially create diplomatic issues with other nations whose honours we would be unable to accept. It is crucial that we maintain good relations with our global neighbors and respect their traditions as they do ours. This would not only be perilous for our own way of life but risk harming our international relations by not properly acknowledging each others' goodwill when it is kindly expressed.
I urge you to join me in opposing this amendment which could disrupt our long-standing tradition of honoring deserving individuals and maintaining healthy international relations. Please sign this petition today.
