Stop the Implementation of Riot's Vanguard in League of Legends

The Issue

I, like many others, am a player of League of Legends. However, the recent decision by Riot Games to implement their anti-cheat software Vanguard into the game has raised serious concerns about privacy rights. Vanguard operates at a kernel-level which means it is active from the moment your computer operating system boots up. This level of access allows it to control every aspect of your computer - from turning on your camera and microphone to monitoring every bit of information you type into your browser.  It can see your credit card details you enter online. Everything. It sees it all as long as it is active.

This is not just an issue for me but for all users who value their privacy and security. According to a report by Statista in 2020, there are approximately 115 million monthly active League of Legends players worldwide. That's potentially 115 million users at risk.

The implementation of such invasive software violates our right to privacy as outlined in Article 12 of The Universal Declaration Of Human Rights which states that "No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his privacy."

We understand that Riot Games wants to maintain fair play within its games but compromising user security should never be the solution. We urge Riot Games to reconsider this decision and find alternative ways that respect user's rights while maintaining game integrity.

Please sign this petition if you believe in protecting our right to privacy while enjoying online gaming.
