SIGNATURES NEEDED!!!!

Hello past, current, and future ISD 31 families. I want to shed light on a health crisis that our current students and staff are facing with the warm temperatures. I’m not sure if many families are aware, but Horace May, Northern, JW and Solway don’t have air conditioning! My own children have come home with heat exhaustion, dehydration, and migraine headaches. It is inhumane to expect children to learn, and staff to work, in a building with high heat and humidity. I know firsthand many of the classrooms and offices have reached temperatures into the high 80’s! This situation should not be happening in our district in 2024! ALL students, no matter what building they are in, should be afforded the same safe and comfortable learning environment. Student learning is being affected by these conditions. I have even noticed test score differences between schools with AC and those without. The heat has been so bad, my children don’t want to go to school. The staff has requested air conditioning numerous times over many years. It’s time for all of us to rally in support of our students and staff. Please sign this petition to send a message to the district that we need a temporary solution before the spring of 2025 and a permanent solution shortly thereafter!
