John Carlson

John Carlson is a multifaceted individual with a distinguished career both in sports and public service. As an American professional ice hockey defenseman, he serves as an alternate captain for the Washington Capitals in the NHL, having been drafted 27th overall by the team in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. Carlson honed his skills in the USHL with the Indiana Ice and in the OHL with the London Knights, later playing for the Hershey Bears in the AHL. Internationally, he represented the United States in the 2010 World Juniors and 2014 Winter Olympics, and he won the Stanley Cup with the Capitals in 2018. Beyond hockey, Carlson has served as an Adjunct Professor at Bemidji State University, a County Commissioner in Beltrami County, and has owned the John Carlson Agency. He also held the position of State Senator for Minnesota's District 4.
