Leah was selected by the author who knows Annabeth better than anyone. She radiates Annabeth energy and hair dye exists. The disproportionate backlash to her casting makes the Percy Jackson fandom appear unwelcoming to POC fans and actors alike. Let’s prove this is a space where Black and POC community members can be safe and welcome, and that we don’t need to bully a child in order to voice our opinions. 

Walker Scobell, our beloved Percy Jackson, has also been receiving backlash from "being too close to Leah". He is not a fictional character; he is a real person. Even if he did have a crush on Leah, why does it matter? He should be treated with more respect and not sexualize by adults and minors alike; and should be allowed to date as he pleases.

It is absolutely ridiculous, and frankly disappointing that the Percy Jackson fandom has been doing these things, and it needs to be put to an end.
