Stop the Grizzly Bear Hunting Amendment, Protect Alberta's Wildlife

The Issue

A new ministerial amendment introduced by Todd Loewen, Minister of Forestry and Parks, for the Alberta Government allows individuals to shoot and kill a Grizzly Bear deemed a problem, and also a Grizzly Bear that is within an area of concern. This approach is alarming. Creating a list of individuals with a desire to shoot and kill Grizzly Bears will inevitably put pressure on Conservation Officers to declare more bears as being a problem, or in an "area of concern". Mixing the motives of hunters with the protection of the bears and the public will certainly muddle the management of this iconic species. The management of problem animals must remain with experts within the Ministry of Forestry and Parks that have the training and experience to use all the tools available to a resource manager.

Please voice your dissent against this amendment and stand up for a return to professional wildlife management. Sign this petition today. Please contact Todd Loewen Honourable Minister of Forestry and Parks: Phone: 780 644-7353 or E-mail fp.minister@gov.ab.ca He was the one that introduced this amendment!!
